La marque Carena est déposée au début des années 50, par Coop, groupe de distribution suisse issu du regroupement de plusieurs entreprises.
Elle concerne le matériel photographique. Elle est renouvellée plusieurs fois par Coop, puis par Interdiscount, filiale de Coop spécialisée dans la vente de matériels électroniques et photographiques.
Interdiscount est créée en 1970, et s'appuie sur un réseau dense de succursales. En 1973, elles sont 42 dans toute la Suisse. A l'étranger, Interdiscount s'appuie sur les réseaux existants. En Allemagne, au début des années 80, Interdiscount prend des parts dans l'entreprise Photo Porst alors en mauvaise voie.
This model has the particularity of being supplied with its remote control. This is common in Japan, where compact cameras all come with a remote control and a date back, but it's not so common in Europe.
Thanks to the patent number inscribed on the base, the manufacturer is identified as Haking.
